Pope Francis gives verdict on allowing married men as Priests.
Pope Francis has refused to give approval to married men to be ordained as priests and women as deacons in the South America’s Amazon region.
The proposal was raised during the special three-week Synod of Bishops in October 2019 for countries in the Amazon region which includes Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, and others, but the proposal has been turned down by Pope Francis.
The Pope has urged the Roman Catholic to look for other means of getting more Priests and Deacons into the work to avert the shortage of clergy in the region.
Deacons have the permission to anchor weddings and Baptisms but are not allowed to consecrate the Communion wafer and wine.
